Prices and Procedures
A comprehensive agreement detailing prices and procedures is provided for serious inquiries
Jim DeCesare works closesly with each client to ensure the painting commissioned exceeds expectations. The right portrait comes from clear communication, and a spirit of collaboration between artist and client.
Current portrait prices start at $2,800 for a head and shoulders size (@18"x22"), and does not include CT sales tax, delivery (if applicable) or framing expenses. Portraits are generally painted near-life-size.
Each museum quality portrait painting is priced in direct relationship to size, complexity, and number of figures in each portrait painting. All fees, deadlines and expectations are clearly understood by client and artist before a commission begins.
After each project is discussed and written estimate provided, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. The complete painting process takes four to six months from time of deposit to final delivery of art. Reasonable exceptions can sometimes be made.
A comprehensive full-color "sketch" is created prior to the full-scale portrait painting. Adjustments are continuously made to the sketch until an appropriate feel is achieved. A successful sketch is critical, particularly for large and complex commissions.
The completed portrait is unveiled to the client, and minor adjustments are made prior to framing and delivery. The remaining balance, along with delivery and/or framing fees (if applicable) is paid upon final delivery.
Jim DeCesare Fine Portrait Paintings are each traditionally crafted and one of a kind. Only high quality, archival materials are used for each commission portrait painting in oil.
Discounts are provided for clients commissioning multiple portraits simultaneously.
